Especially aggregious to this transaction is that the DNR stated that this land vacation had no benefit for the Citizens of Orono. Mr. Erickson claimed that the wetlands were not of use to the Citizens of Orono. Nothing could be further from the truth. This very valuable land was given away without citizen support. Several former City officials voiced their outrage to no avail. Reportedly now this transaction is under review with several local and state agencies.
